Collector Topics: Camouflage Paint - Afrika Korps M1940 Helmet

This M1940 single decal German Army (Heer) helmet shows the typical camouflage scheme found in North Africa.  The helmet is marked "Q66" for the Quist firm and bears a single decal now covered by the sandy colored tropical paint.  The paint was sprayed onto the helmet which was typical for most helmets.  The paint was applied using spray painting equipment found on most armored fighting vehicles.  In many cases, the paint was applied at a vehicle garage or supply depot.
