M1940 Single Decal Camouflaged Army Helmet - Mediterranean Front (Italy)

This M1940 single decal camouflaged army helmet was captured by a veteran of the US Navy serving on the Mediterranean battle front.  The helmet was acquired from the veteran's family with the veteran himself still living in Florida, USA.  The helmet features a hand painted tan finish to which a light brown wash has been spread on various portions using thinned paint applied with a brush.  The interior rim of the helmet has also been painted, which was a common practice with tan camouflaged helmets used in Africa and Italy.  The decal has been expertly painted around leaving it exposed on the side of the helmet.
