Various methods were used to print decals that were applied to helmets.  These included both water-applied and lacquer-based decals.  The images below depict original unapplied decals representing both types.  Of interest is how the decal sits on the transfer paper.  Most decals also had a light printed "guide" on the front so that it could be positioned accurately at the time of application.
