    Feldpolizei Helmets

Helmet Description

Helmets issued to members of Field Police (Feldpolizei) units consisted of the standard combat model M1935, M1940, and M1942 helmets.  The paint finishes on these helmets were identical to those issued to other service branches within the Armed Forces (Wehrmacht).  Early M1935 helmets were issued in light to medium smooth finished field gray color.  Later these helmets often underwent field or factory refurbishment in which case the paint was typically upgraded to a darker shade with a texture mixture.  The M1940 and M1942 helmets were typically issued in textured paint which varied in color shade depending on the factory which produced the helmet.  Decals worn on all helmets consisted of the standard police eagle shield and matching National Socialist Party decal.  Both decals were worn from 1939 until 1945 regardless of regulations issued by other branches of the Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS.  Helmets of all models can be found bearing the bordered and borderless version of the standard police eagle shields.
