Fiber Parade Helmet of the Erel Firm

The helmet shown below was manufactured in the mid-1930's by the well established Erel firm which also manufactured visor caps for all branches of the Wehrmacht including the Waffen-SS.  The helmet bears a smooth finish "pea green" color applied directly to the pressed fiber helmet.  The interior bears a light weight pigskin liner and chinstrap of the type commonly found in some light weight civic model helmets used by other Third Reich organizations.  The decals are commercially produced and applied by the Erel firm.  Their designs are non-standard in the sense that they do not appear on factory produced steel combat helmets.  These decals are of the same quality but bear different details within their graphic design.  The interior of this helmet has a neatly painted name indicating the rank and title of the officer who once wore this interesting helmet.  Most fiber parade helmets become brittle with age and crack along their seams in a way similar to that shown by this example.
