    Landespolizeigruppe "General Göring" Insignia

Decal Description

Regulations governing the wear of helmet insignia on helmets worn by the State Police Group General Göring (Landespolizeigruppe General Göring) evolved over the course of several years.  The first insignia worn utilized a combination of the Prussian State shield and a white mobile swastika.  This combination was later reversed.  A final change took place in 1934 when the Prussian shield was replaced with the new tricolored shield representing the combined colors of National Socialist Germany.  It is not clear whether or not the insignia used on these helmets took the form of decal transfers or painted insignia.  Given the era, it would appear that the majority of helmet insignia was hand painted using very fine stencils.  It is entirely possible that decals in the type shown below were in fact used.  During this time period insignia for the German Order Police (Deutsche Ordnungspolizei) was just becoming standardized.  Many of the insignia used on police helmets were produced in decal format.  From the number of surviving examples of this rare helmet, if would appear that most were stenciled insignia.
