A number of variant civic model police
helmets exist which possess non-standard decal configurations not
common to those found on German Police helmets. These helmets
are often attributed to being Austrian in origin due to their decals.
One of the most common of these helmets is
one which exhibits a large winged police eagle superimposed on a
wreath. This decal appears on the front or left side of the
helmet. In combination with this decal the helmet often
possesses a second variant pattern National Socialist Party decal.
This decal is void of the typical German style black border around the
edges.
Further information is not known regarding
these helmets. However, it is believed that they represent
simply another variant style of civic model helmet configuration
unique to those found in Austria after 1938. These helmets are
always found painted the standard semi-gloss smooth black finish
common to all Third Reich civic model police helmets.
