Decal Description

It would appear that few of the helmets used by the Bahnschutzpolizei incorporated decal insignia of any kind.  However a handful of helmets did receive insignia in the form of decals.  These decals were generally used in sets with one being the winged wheel motif of the Reichsbahn and the other being an elongated version of the National Socialist Party decal.  The decals were manufactured to the same standards seen in military style insignia and were of quality construction¹.  The winged wheel decal consisted of a silver insignia placed on a black background with a silver border.  The oblong party decal was in the typical style save for the fact that the height was unusually tall².  In addition, the bottom of the decal was generally rounded rather than coming to a point.

Notes:

¹ Collectors should be aware that a small cache of excellent reproduction decals with the Reichsbahn design have been observed on some helmets originating in Europe.

² An interesting side note regarding this decal related to the fact that it has also been observed on a number of original Austrian model police helmets dating from before 1939.  However the latter generally are void of the black edge found on the Bahnschutzpolizei version.
