The decals shown below depict some of the
most common reproduction police decals currently on the market.
Decals of this kind are not as common as other decals found on German
Army or Waffen-SS helmets. Never-the-less, these decals continue
to fool unsuspecting collectors who are unaware of their designs.
The decals shown at left and center are in fact the very same decal with
"artistic" alteration which makes them appear slightly different.
These decals are very much available in today's reproduction market and
cost no more than $5.00 US. The decal shown on the far right is a
bit less common and it originates in Czechoslovakia. Two types of
this decal exist of which one has a border (as shown) while the other is
identical in design but without the silver border.
Counterfeit artists have now accomplished to
replicate the proper metallic look of an authentic decal on some but not
all police decals. Various elements of the overall designs shown
lack the character of true originals. Specific details concerning
why the decals shown below differ from authentic examples will not be
described here in an effort to prevent counterfeit artists from
modifying or "correcting" the faults inherent in the examples shown.
