SA-Feldjägerkorps Helmets

Helmet Description

Both photographic evidence and original helmet examples confirm that the SA Field Police (SA-Feldjägerkorps) were issued World War I model steel helmets with special unit insignia. Unit insignia was placed on both the right and left sides of the helmet. In some cases, mid-1930’s produced World War I style helmets were also used.

Helmet models included both German and Austrian pattern M1916, M1917, and M1918 helmets which were typically painted various shades of light field-green. Standard three-pad leather liners were used in these helmets although some also incorporated the newer M1927 model liner system. Chinstraps were generally World War I types as well as the newer carbine clip and roller-buckle varieties introduced in the mid 1930's.
