    SA-Feldjägerkorps Period Photos

This photo in the collection of the US Library of Congress shows men of the SA Field Police (SA-Feldjägerkorps) taking their sworn oath of allegiance to National Socialist Germany.  Clearly evident in the photograph is the use of the World War I model M1918 steel helmet.  The white mobile swastika is worn on the right side of the helmet and the star burst insignia of the Prussian Police on the left.  Both insignia appear to be decals rather than hand painted.  While the actual paint color of the helmet is not discernable from the black and white image, by most historical accounts the helmets shown would have been painted field green rather than the "SA brown" color so common to uniforms of the Sturmabteilung (SA).
