SA-Wehrmannschaft Insignia

Insignia Description

Insignia worn on the helmets of the SA-Wehrmannschaft were manufactured as decal transfers¹. Some insignia are also known to have been applied by stencil. The first insignia type was a stylized version of the National Socialist Party eagle specifically designed for the Sturmabteilung (SA). The insignia featured a silver eagle with maroon colored details. The decal was generally applied to the left side of the helmet although variation in positioning can be found. On the right side of the helmet appeared the SA circular logo. Early versions were first produced in a golden color, but this was later changed to metallic silver with maroon highlights. In some cases only the SA circular logo was applied to a given helmet. Some helmets have also been observed bearing only the eagle insignia.
