Helmets worn by members of SS Security Police (Sicherheitspolizei-SD) generally wore M1934 medium duty helmets with standard SS decals.  The decal insignia was normally applied in regular fashion with a first pattern runic shield appearing on the right side of the helmet, and a National Socialist Party decal on the left.  In some cases, members chose to reverse the decals with each appearing on the opposite side of what was typically done.  The exact reason for this is not fully known.
