    M1935 Double Decal SS-VT Helmet - 1937 Dated Example

The example shown below exhibits the factory fresh characteristics of an unissued early production ET M1935 helmet.  The helmet bears a 1937 dated liner band with 1936 dated chinstrap.  The liner retaining rivets are the early unmarked variety made of brass with a metallic plating.  The dome stamp in the crown corresponds to an early example of stamp design.  The decals are C.A. Pocher pattern applied directly to the helmet without a lacquer top-coat.  Both decals retain their original brilliant colors and metallic luster.

Common to many C.A. Pocher produced National Socialist Party decals is the fact that the center circle and swastika are often printed off-center.  This characteristic is seen in many decals of this type including those of other makers.  Many collectors become overly concerned when decals have apparent defects or are in some way "imperfect" including angled or seemingly hap-hazard placement.  However, these printing and application traits are well known to advanced collectors and often times "not discussed" for fear of sharing too much information regarding authentic examples.  The off-centered characteristics of many C.A. Pocher National Socialist Party decals is due to the technology of the times which layered three colors over a metal backing in what is often called "offset" printing.  Offset printing is generally reserved for commercially produced books, newspapers, and other forms of color lithography.  The helmet production series number is "4584."
