Restoration of Your Existing Shell and Parts: Many collectors and reenactors prefer to supply Stahlhelm-Werke with a helmet shell and related parts for complete refinishing. This is a lower cost alternative since customers supply their parts upfront and have them restored to wartime finish and appearance. Approximately 75% of all Stahlhelm-Werke work is devoted to restoration of customer supplied shells and parts. Stahlhelm-Werke paints are color matched to original wartime helmets and are as close to the original finish as can be produced using modern technology and painting techniques. Custom restored helmets take an average of EIGHT to TWELVE WEEKS to complete depending on parts supplied, restoration needed, and selections chosen by the customer. Three separate paint finish options are available when refinishing an existing helmet. Regardless of the color chosen for the helmet, each finish is applied in multiple layers over a dark rust inhibiting primer after a helmet has been paint stripped (when requested). Approximately 8 to 10 ounces of paint is used on each helmet. Each helmet is restored to exacting standards using the most accurate, modern made materials available. Rush orders can not always accomplished if parts needed to finish your helmet restoration are unavailable or difficult to obtain. For most repaint and re-leathering work, rush orders are completed on time as requested. If you think that you will require a rush order restoration, please contact us directly before sending your helmet to insure that it can be accomplished on time. Rush order deliveries (one to two week turnaround)....................................$50.00 Postage Rates and Shipping: Customers are responsible for the costs associated with shipping their helmet shells and parts that are expected to be refinished or restored. Once the helmet is completed, the restoration will be shipped by US Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation. Costs for shipping outside the US vary based on country and destination.
