Custom Ordered Restorations
and Upgrades:
We specialize in the repainting and upgrading
of World War I and II German reenactor and collector helmets. We no longer
sell "ready-to-go" helmets for the starting reenactor. Custom ordered
restoration or upgrades are done on your helmet which you supply in advance.
We will accept any parts and components that you want to use in your helmet
restoration and will assemble all of them for free.
These are restorations that you request and
pay for after supplying your helmet shell and related parts (if any) prior to
the work being done. This includes all work sent to Stahlhelm-Werke
where you (the customer) supply parts for a helmet that needs to be reworked or
repaired. A description of this product and specific pricing terms can be
found here.
Custom restorations and upgrades typically
take between EIGHT and TWELVE
WEEKS for completion. This is due to the timing and
availability of parts needed to restore your helmet. The following payment terms and
polices apply to custom restored or upgraded helmets:
-
Requires a full payment for all work to
be done when the helmet is sent for restoration.
-
Are NON-REFUNDABLE after completion of
the work once
payment is made (no exceptions here).
-
Must include the full amount for return
postage through the US Postal Service or the complete amount needed to ship
properly to an International location outside the US.
-
The preferred method of shipping is the
US Postal Service via Priority Mail and Delivery Confirmation. UPS and
FedEx require additional funds for postage.
-
Must be paid for by check, money order,
bank certified check, or www.paypal.com.
We also accept www.bidpay.com for money
orders.
-
NO CREDIT CARD PURCHASES ARE ACCEPTED.
-
If paid through www.paypal.com
via credit card all purchases must add 4% to the total price for credit card
fees or the payment will not be accepted.
-
Personal checks must wait to clear my
bank 10 to 20 days after cashing to ensure the deposits have cleared your bank.
-
Time payments and/or layaway payments for
shells, parts, or full custom restorations ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTED.
-
Holding helmet shells or related parts
for several months until you can acquire enough funds to fully pay for the
item, start the restoration, or make an initial payment ARE NO LONGER
ACCEPTED.
-
Failure to make full payment for any item
custom ordered (even your own helmet supplied to me) within three (3) months of
the initial order means that your initial payment is retained, the sale
nullified, and your own helmet parts sold off to cover the costs of work
done on the restoration far. Example: You send Stahlhelm-Werke
your M35 shell for a
full restoration with a 50% down deposit. The work is completed in six weeks
and you never make the final payment on the helmet. After three months
of storing your helmet after work is completed, Stahlhelm-Werke
will keep your initial deposit and will also sell your helmet to someone else to
recover restoration expenses never recovered as a result of failure to pay
in full. Please
keep in mind this policy only applies in the event that YOU never make your
final payment after the work has been completed. Three months are
granted for payment after a restoration is done. Special payment
arrangements can be made in advance if needed.
'Direct Sale' Restored
Helmets:
These are helmets that Stahlhelm-Werke has
restored and is releasing for direct sale to reenactors or collectors.
These are unique model restorations of particular helmets or their variations
that have been custom restored and which are sold on this website as found here.
We only stock a limited number of these at various times as our main emphasis is
on repainting reenactor helmets for historical display.
-
Require a full payment for direct sale
including postage OR
-
Can be put on "layaway" for a
period of no longer than two months with two equal installment payments of
50% of the total price including postage.
-
Direct sale helmets purchased in full
have a THREE DAY RETURN INSPECTION privilege and can be returned IN SAME
CONDITION AS SOLD for a full refund. Items kept longer than three days
or damaged and worn will not be accepted for refund (no exceptions) and will
be returned to the buyer.
-
Layaway helmets HAVE NO REFUND POLICY and
all sales ARE FINAL.
-
ALL helmets must be paid for by check,
money order, bank certified check, or www.paypal.com.
-
www.paypal.com
payments made via credit card must add 4% to the total price for credit card
fees or the payment will not be accepted.
-
Personal checks must wait to clear the bank
(10 to 15 days after cashing) to ensure the deposits have been accepted
-
Money Orders and International Money
Orders as well as Bank Certified Cashiers Checks are also accepted without
the need to wait for funds to clear the bank.
Reproduction Decal Purchases:
These are decals that you purchase from Stahlhelm-Werke
and that you are planning to apply to your own helmet. A description of
this product and prices can be found here.
-
Are sold as SINGLE DECALS at $20 per
decal (THESE ARE NOT SETS BUT SINGLE DECALS!)
-
Can not be sold on "layaway" or
"partial payment" programs.
-
Are refundable if returned in SAME CONDITION AS
SOLD following a THREE DAY INSPECTION period.
-
ARE NOT refundable if the application
failed due to your own methods of applying the decal. Directions are
provided with each decal and they ARE VERY SPECIFIC to ensure proper
adhesion and performance.
-
ALL decals must be paid for by check,
cash, money order, bank certified check, or www.paypal.com.
Money orders process through www.bidpay.com
are also accepted.
-
www.paypal.com
payments made via credit card must add 4% to the total price for credit card
fees or the payment will not be accepted.
-
Personal checks must wait to clear my
bank 10 to 20 days after cashing to ensure the deposits have cleared your bank.
-
Postage must be included with each
purchase which is 37 cents for 1-2 decals (in the US) and $1 for three or
more. Overseas destinations are $5 for any number of decals sold.
Postage and Insurance:
-
Postage must be paid in full with each
order. Helmets listed as 'ready-to-go' already have the cost of
postage (within the US only) added to their price schedule.
-
Priority Mail is the preferred method --
NOT FEDEX OR UPS unless you can provide a business account number that Stahlhelm-Werke
can
use to charge the fees to your account.
-
NO INSURANCE is provided unless the buyer
specifically requests this -- if a helmet is lost it is the carrier's fault
not Stahlhelm-Werke's.
-
Delivery Confirmation is used on all USPS
shipments to verify that the package has arrived. This does not
include decal purchases.
-
Postage rates outside the US vary
greatly. Please inquire on costs to your home country before sending
any payments.

Paying by Personal Check:
-
If you must pay by personal check please
anticipate a long delay. People write bad checks all the time and they
hurt sales as well as drive up the costs for those who want to pay on time
and with proper funds to draw upon. Stahlhelm-Werke
must wait 10 to 20 days to
ensure that the bank says the check has cleared no matter what your bank says or
what you might tell us. In general, Stahlhelm-Werke
does not encourage the use of personal
checks for this reason but will accept them if you must pay for items by
this means.
-
Stahlhelm-Werke does not accept personal credit card or
debit card payments of any kind directly other than those offered through www.paypal.com
with 4% added to the total sales price to cover credit card processing fees.
We also accept payments through www.bidpay.com
as noted previously.
-
If the policy says NO REFUND it means NO
REFUND. Please do not attempt to badger or threaten with emails.
Our attorney will contact you directly if attempts of harassment are made in
any way.

I want to thank you for the
excellent job you did on the helmet. I am very pleased. I had nine uncles
in combat in WW II, three in Asia and five in Europe. They brought back a
lot of stuff which mostly got lost or destroyed in the 1950's by their
kids and cousins. Gradually this helmet deteriorated, parts of liner gone,
rust, etc. This is pretty much the way I remember it and eventually the
wreck was handed down to me. Thanks a lot. ---
