    Schutzstaffeln: Waffen-SS (Armed-SS) Period Photos

Members of the Waffen-SS march in formation at a training camp somewhere in Germany.  Each man wears a standard combat helmet with SS decal.  The second man from the right marching in the front row wears a M1942 pattern helmet without decal.  This photo was taken in 1943 after the order had been given to discontinue the use of the standard SS runic decal.  The photo illustrates that many soldiers disregarded the order to remove decals from helmets already in use.
