    Schutzstaffeln: Waffen-SS (Armed-SS) Period Photos

Two Waffen-SS double decal helmets rest atop the graves of men buried along side a road somewhere in Russia.  The helmet at right with a large fracture split is a M1935 model helmet.  The one on the left is a rare M1940 double decal Waffen-SS helmet.  Waffen-SS M1940 double decal helmets were manufactured for only a short period of time.  This photo shows evidence that some M1940 double decal Waffen-SS helmets did in fact see service on the front lines.  Although only partially legible, the date on the two placards reads "1941."
